Miguel Saralegui is an Ikerbasque Research Fellow at the University of the Basque Country and a professor in the doctoral program at the Universidad San Sebastián. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Cambridge University, and has held tenured positions at the Universidad de la Sabana, Universidad Diego Portales and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. His research mainly focuses on Renaissance thought (Machiavelli and Hobbes) and on 20th century conservative thought, especially the work of Carl Schmitt. He has published a book on Spain’s influence on Carl Schmitt’s thought: Carl Schmitt pensador español (Trotta, 2016). In 2021, his book on anti-Spanish sentiment in Latin American political thought, Matar a la madre patria, will be published by Tecnos.
